How to organize jobsite photos by room
Organizing jobsite photos by room is not a folder-naming problem. It is a mapping problem: each photo needs a location on the floor plan before anyone else opens the file.
Captions are not organization
“Kitchen” in a filename still leaves two kitchens, a kitchenette, and a wet bar in dispute. Photo documentation by location uses the drawing as the index. Reviewers click the room and see the photos.
Steps
- Start with the floor plan. Import the unit, floor, or building plan you will actually walk.
- Create a waypoint per room. Kitchens, baths, corridors, exteriors — if you will photograph it, pin it.
- Capture at the pin. Take or upload photos while that waypoint is selected. Do not sort later from a camera roll if you can avoid it.
- Export room-indexed output. The PDF photo report keeps room context with every image so punch lists and inspections stay followable.
